Ghana Women’s Premier League: Clubs to receive appearance fee as new season launched

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a comprehensive support package for clubs as the 2024/2025 Malta Guinness Womens Premier League season kicks off, including an appearance fee for each team.At the season launch event held on October 15, 2024, GFA executives and league sponsors confirmed that clubs would receive financial backing as well as equipment to help them compete effectively throughout the season.According to Dr Gifty Oware-Mensah, Womens Football Representative on the GFA Executive Council, all 20 participating clubs will receive an appearance fee of GH60,000 for Northern Zone teams and GH65,000 for those in the Southern Zone.”This support aims to ease some of the financial burdens on clubs and encourage them to perform at their best,” Dr Oware-Mensah stated.She further highlighted that each club would be provided with 30 pairs of football boots and 30 footballs for the season.This initiative, she explained, reflects the GFA’s ongoing investment in women’s football, with a particular focus on developing administrators, coaches, and match officials.”We have trained more women coaches than any other African country over the past three years. This season, we are continuing our commitment to developing womens football at all levels,” she added.Dinah Adu Asare, Marketing Manager for Malta Guinness, expressed the sponsors commitment to the league’s success and the clubs’ welfare.”Malta Guinness is proud to be part of this journey, and we are excited to provide additional incentives to make this season even better than before,” she said.The new Womens Premier League season, set to begin from October 18 to 21, will also benefit from extensive media coverage.Matches will be broadcast by GLOBE TV in the Northern Zone and MAX TV in the Southern Zone.
