Critical eight-hour electricity work to affect these Cape Town areas

The City of Cape Town Electricity Generation and Distribution Department will conduct critical maintenance work in Hanover Park on Tuesday, 25 June.

The maintenance work had been scheduled to take place on 20 May, but will instead be carried out on 25 June, from 8:30 to 16:00, if all goes according to plan.

The City of Cape Town said the following areas will be affected:

The municipality emphasised that the interruption will only affect the highlighted area on the map.

POWER COULD BE RESTORED ANYTIME

The City of Cape Town said electricity supply could be restored at any time, and urged customers to treat all electrical installations as live for the entire interruption duration.

“Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on.

“The City of Cape Town apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their cooperation and understanding,” the municipality said.

14-HOUR UPGRADES RESCHEDULED

The City of Cape Town Electricity Generation and Distribution Department’s critical planned upgrade for the Helderberg area, scheduled for Saturday, 8 June, was postponed to Saturday, 15 June, and Saturday, 22 June. 

The work will now take place from 6:00 to 20:00 on 15 June and 22 June, depending on weather conditions.

The following areas in Helderberg will be affected by the planned upgrades:

Triangle industrial area

Helderberg Village

Remhoogte

Jonkershoogte

Heldervue

Steenbras View

Helena Heights

Greenway Rise

Goede Hoop

Dorhill

The municipality also emphasised that the interruption will only affect the highlighted area on the map.

On Thursday, 13 June, the City of Cape Town also confirmed its teams did electricity upgrades at the Newlands Main Substation. This affect edresidents in parts of Newlands and surrounding areas.
