You canât bet on current Black Stars players for better results â Charles Taylor
Former Ghana international Charles Taylor has expressed his disbelief in the current Black Stars squad, saying they cannot be relied on.Taylors remarks stem from the Black Stars poor showing in the double-header against Sudan during the October international break.The West African powerhouse has been unimpressive in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification series and are close to missing out on the tournament for the first time in 20-years. The last time Ghana missed out on AFCON was back in 2004, hosted by Tunisia.Ghana has managed just two points from the initial four games in Group F, succumbing to two defeats and two draws across the period.Taylor in an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM raised concerns about the capabilities of the current Black Stars squad.Ghana Premier League success depends on the Black Stars. Its time for us to resort to the GPL for players once the youth national teams are not functioning. We should pick the best players in the league and groom them for the future. The current Black Stars players cannot be relied on. You cant bet on them for better results he said.The Black Stars now needs to secure wins against already-qualified Angola and Niger, while hoping that Sudan falters against these same opponents, to keep their chances alive for next years tournament in Morocco.Ghana will travel to face Angola in Luanda on November 15 before playing host to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on November 18, 2024.
