Two goals in two minutes from Shabalala saves Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs secured a draw against Magesi FC on Wednesday evening thanks to a brace from Mduduzi Shabalala.
Amakhosi found themselves 2-0 down with just under 20 minutes to go. Wonderboy Makhubu has the home team 1-0 ahead at the break before Edmore Chirambadare doubled the lead with 18 minutes left.
Nasreddine Nabi demonstrated their renowned fighting spirit as they fought their way back into the match. A creative play by Gasto Sirino set up Shabalala, who made a darting run into space and finished excellently from a tight angle to bring Kaizer Chiefs back in the game.
Immediately after the restart, the Glamour regained possession, and Dortley sent a long ball forward that was struck against the post byWandlie Duba. The rebound fell to Shabalala, who volleyed it into the back of the net.
After Chabalala’s brace, Kaizer Chiefs went all out but the Premiership newcomers held firm, securing a share of the points. This draw brings Amakhosi to eighth place in the Betway Premiership standings, with seven points from their five fixtures.
Nabi’s men now shift their focus to the upcoming clash against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Black Label Knockout Challenge this weekend.
Shabalala helps Kaizer Chiefs fight back
Amakhosi began their Betway Premiership with two wins but have since lost their momentum after the FIFA break. Despite their win over SuperSport United in the Carling Knockout, Kaizer Chiefs have not won their previous three league matches.
They now sit eighth on the log with just seven points from five games. Nabi’s men are now 10 points behind rivals and log leaders Orlando Pirates.
