ASABA—FLOOD has submerged Abala-Oshimili, Umuoru, Adia-Obiaka, Ase, Onya, Asaba-Asa and other communities in Ndokwa East Local Government Areas in Delta State, displacing residents from their homes.

The flood occasioned by the incessant rise in the water level in the last few days, assumed an alarming dimension as the River Niger and it’s adjoining creeks overflowed their banks.

Similarly, Chairman, Umuolu Community Development Committee, Mr. John Alibofi lamented that “Flood has taken over my area and has submerged many homes. Some people are no longer sleeping in their homes.”

Contacted on the development, Chairman, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of the state, Mr. Vincent Osilonya said Abala-Oshimili was the worst hit among the affected communities.
He disclosed that residents have been evacuated from the community to upland area.
