Desmond OfeiGhana coach Desmond Ofei is proud of the team’s achievement in Togo despite losing to Nigeria in the WAFU B U-20 final on Wednesday night.Despite a narrow 2-1 defeat to Nigeria, Ofei is celebrating a major victory for the Black Satellites qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).Ghanas primary target at the WAFU tournament in Togo was securing a return to the continental stage after missing out in 2023. That goal was accomplished with their advancement to the final.Ofei faced a significant challenge in building a competitive squad due to the absence of nine key players who played a crucial role in Ghanas gold medal success at the recent African Games.Reflecting on this, he expressed his pride in the teams resilience, saying, “Losing nine key players who were crucial to our success at the African Games was a significant blow. But this allowed us to build a new core of young talent, and these boys have stepped up tremendously. They deserve this qualification just as much as anyone else.”
