Bechem United tactician Kwaku Danso refuses to back home-based players for Black Stars invite
Bechem United coach Kwaku Danso has casted doubts about the capabilities of home-based players amid calls for their inclusion in the team.Players plying their trade in the local scene have struggled to make the Black Stars squad in recent times, with Kotokos Frederick Asare and Samartexs Isaac Afful being the only two home-based players to have made the cut in recent times.Despite calls for the inclusion of home-based players, Kwaku Danso insists they are not up there and needs to improve for Black Stars opportunities.People normally advocate for local players to be included in the Black Stars, but my main concern is that they are called into the team but not given any playing time. They (local players) should be called based on merit in order to compete for playing time as wellAs long as they are Ghanaians, they are eligible to play, however like many players who play in Jordan, Cyprus, and other countries, they are still not called because they do not meet the standardI haven’t played against every team in the league yet, but the few games we’ve played in the last nine, these local players are not up there and need to improve if they want to play for the Black StarsGhana coach Otto Addo will in the coming days announce his squad for the final round of AFCON qualifying games against Angola and Niger.
