Zuberu Sharani makes Champions League debut in Slovan Bratislava’s defeat to Man City

(Photo by Christian Hofer – UEFA/UEFA via Getty Images)Ghanaian forward Zuberu Sharani had a dream come true as he made his UEFA Champions League debut in Slovan Bratislavas 4-0 loss to Manchester City.Dubbed the Chereponi Neymar, Sharani entered the match in the 62nd minute, replacing Slovakian midfielder Vladimir Weiss.Though Slovan struggled against the reigning Premier League champions, Sharani’s debut marks a significant moment in his young career. The 24-year-old will hope to build on this experience in future fixtures.Manchester City dominated the game with Phil Foden leading the charge, scoring and providing an assist. Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring in the 8th minute, followed by Foden’s composed finish. Erling Haaland added his 11th goal of the season, while James McAtee rounded off the scoring with his first City goal.Despite a valiant effort from Slovan’s goalkeeper Dominik Takac, Citys dominance was evident throughout. This win was Citys first in the revamped Champions League format after drawing against Inter Milan in their opener.Sharani will be hoping to make a bigger impact in future matches for Slovan as he settles into the prestigious competition.
