Woodmead shooting: One person killed, three others injured
A man was shot and killed while three others were injured in a shooting on the Woodmead Bridge over the M1 Highway in Johannesburg.
A SHOOTING TOOK PLACE ON THE BRIDGE
According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson paramedics arrived on the scene at 10h53.

“Several vehicles were found in the middle of the road.”
Meiring said on closer inspection, medics found a male security guard lying in the road.
“Three patients were found lying inside a light motor vehicle.”
He said medics assessed the patients and found that a passenger in the car had sustained fatal injuries while the driver and security guard were in critical condition.
The other occupant from the vehicle escaped with minor injuries.
Meiring said medics treated the patients and provided the two critically injured people with advanced life support.
“Shortly after, the security guard was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a private hospital while the other was transported by ambulance.
“The patient with minor injuries was transported to a nearby hospital for further care.”
THE DRIVER WAS DECLARED DEAD ON THE SCENE
He said unfortunately, nothing could be done for the driver, and he was declared dead by medics on the scene.
The details surrounding this incident are unknown, but authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
Police could not yet provide more information on the shooting.
ER24 said in a statement the shooting happened on Racecourse Road in Milnerton, Western Cape.
“Medics were parked at the hospital nearby when they heard the gunshots.
“Immediately responding, medics arrived on the scene at 13h46 to find a light motor vehicle, riddled with bullets, parked in the middle of the road against a truck.”
