‘What time do we braai?’: Springboks fans react to late match

Springbok fans are scratching their heads over the time difference in the team’s match against Argentina this weekend.

The four-time World Cup-winning champions will play Los Pumas on Saturday, 21 September, at the Estadio Unico Madre Ciudades in Santiago.

The match is expected to kick off at 23:00 SA time.

WHAT TIME DOES SA PLAY ARGENTINA THIS WEEKEND?

According to SA Rugby, the Springboks match against Argentina’s Los Pumas will air at 23:00 SA time.

At present, the Castle Lager Rugby Championship will remain exclusive to DStv’s SuperSport channels. There are currently no plans for the match to air on the SABC platforms.

Bok coach Rassie Erasmus said of the upcoming fixture: “We don’t want to lose against Argentina, and it’s precisely the same for them.

“They must firmly believe they are still in the running for the trophy, so whether we win or they win, both teams will be very hungry.”

SPRINGBOKS FANS REMAIN CONFUSED

Meanwhile, Springboks fans will be staying up later than usual to watch their team play on Saturday.

In previous matches on home turf or abroad, games took place during the day or early evening.

Radio personality Candice Coulsen – also known as Kandis Kardash – posted a TikTok that summed up many Bok fans’ feelings.

She said: “Whose great idea was it to schedule the match for 23:00. I have a ton of questions about the timing of this.

“My first issue is with complex security. Do we tell them ahead of time that we willl be making noise at an entire 11pm on a Saturday night?

“Now comes the braai – when do we start the braai? What time do we start drinking?”

In the comments section, Springboks supporters had a few suggestions…

@nondumtungwa: “We must sleep during the day so that we can watch the game.”

@marisa: “We must start the braai at 1am when they win. To be fair, it will be their dinner time.”

@natalieloots: “It’s a long weekend, guys. Just put in for leave on Monday.”

@cheslynn: “We must change our sleeping patterns on Friday already.”
