Weekend load shedding: Eskom to implement multiple power cut stages
Stage 5 load shedding will kick in on Friday afternoon, 26 May. Eskom will implement various power cut stages over the weekend.

ESKOM WEEKEND LOAD SHEDDING SCHEDULE
Stage 5 load shedding will be in place until 5:00 on Saturday. Thereafter, the national power utility will implement power cuts between Stages 2 and 5 during the course of the weekend.

As things stand, 17 392MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns, while a further 2940MW is unavailable due to planned maintenance.

Over the past 24 hours, three generating units broke down and there were delays in returning seven units to service. Eskom these factors are adding to capacity constraints.
During the same period, three units were returned to service. Eskom will publish another update if there are any significant changes to the power system.
