We will miss ‘leader’ Andre Ayew – Ghana coach CK Akonnor ahead of Sudan clash

Ghana coach Coach Kwablan Akonnor has admitted his team will miss inspirational figure and captain Andre Ayew for the second leg AFCON qualifier against Sudan on Tuesday. The Black Stars captain suffered a knock during training in Ghana ruling him out of the game today. Ayew had inspired the team to victory in the first leg in Cape Coast, after scoring a brace in the home win.And his absence is seen as huge blow for the team, but Akonnor is confident of finding a way past the Sudanese despite missing the Swansea star.”First of all, he is the leader of the team and so if you dont have your leader, its always a problem,” Akonnor told the GFA media ahead of the game.”But having said that, these are professionals, they have been Europe for quite sometime now, they are doing well so they know what to do, and of course, with a bit of guidance from the technical team, I think they will be able to do well.”He (Andre) is not in and so it wont be necessary for us to talk about it. Yes, we have lost him, he delivered, he gave us two goals the other day. But now he no more there and so we have to deal with it and strategically we will find a way as to how we will play and get success.”Ghana sit top of Group C and a win in Khartoum will secure qualification to Cameroon 2022.
