[WATCH] Rihanna rocks out to Tyler ICU’s ‘Mnike’ – again

Rihanna is a proud amapiano fan, and a new video of her dancing to Tyler ICU’s Mnike is proof of it.

The Grammy-winning singer was spotted on the dance floor showing off her best moves at the launch party of her latest collaboration with Puma in London this week,

In December, the Barbados-born star claimed that the track was her “favourite 2023 single”.

RIHANNA DANCES TO ‘MNIKE’

In a clip that has South Africans – and no doubt Tyler ICU – beaming with pride, Rihanna is seen dancing to Mnike.

The singer was in London for the release of her new Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty Earth Tone sneaker on Wednesday, 17 April.

If that wasn’t sweet enough, the mom-of-two also sang the song word-for-word.

The amapiano hitmaker posted the clip on his Instagram feed with the caption: “This is her song.”

Take a look…

Speaking to Complex at her Fenty X Puma in December, Rihanna revealed her favourite songs of 2023, one of which was Mnike.

The other was the Afrobeats track, Unavailable, by Nigerian superstar Davido.

But it was her pronunciation of the song’s name  – which she referred to as “Mninka” – that had fans howling.

In the comments section of the Complex Instagram account, many South Africans were happy to get a shout-out.

Tyler ICU posted: “Nika Nika,” poking fun at Riri.

AMAPIANO TRACK LOADING?

While fans have long been campaigning for Rihanna to record a new album, it seems many would be happy with a single – and an amapiano one at that.

“Riri x Tyler ICU,” commented one fan.

Another added: “Get her on for the Mnike remix. We’re going for the Grammy!”.

According to People, music lovers won’t have to wait too long for her to release new material.

Claiming that her new jams are “so good,” she added: “I already got stuff that I feel like I can make hits out of.”

Rihanna is currently recording new songs for her album R9.

Speaking to Interview in February, the nine-time Grammy winner revealed she also has a few exciting music videos up her sleeve.

She said:  “It’s weird. My brain is working backward right now. I usually have the music first, and the music leads me into all of these visual opportunities. Now I’m having all of these visuals.”

“But maybe that’s the key this time. Maybe the visual ideas are leading me to the songs that I need to make.”

Rihanna played coy about when fans can expect the album.
