Mild-mannered Bulls flyhalf Morne Steyn lost his cool during last weekend’s United Rugby Championship (URC) clash at Loftus Versfeld against the Stormers.
The Bulls trailled 18-7 at the half-time break – and were behind by the same scoreline almost 10 minutes into the second half – when Stormers lock Marvin Orie knocked the ball out of Steyn’s hands.
Morne Steyn resorted to pushing Orie and handbags followed as the two Springboks traded shoves.
The incident ended in smiles and apologies – and a 30-26 victory for the Stormers.
After six matches for all four South African teams competing in the tournament, it’s the Sharks in 10th place in the 16th team log who lead the way for Mzansi.
The Bulls will play the Lions next
The Stormers are in 12th, the Lions 13th and the Bulls a lowly 15th at this stage.
In another round of SA derby matches this coming Saturday, the Lions will host the Bulls at Ellis Park (15:00), after which the Sharks will welcome the Stormers to Kings Park (17:05).
