Wakiso Giants, Kyetume Share Spoils in Four-goal Thriller

Wakiso Giants came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Kyetume in the Uganda Premier League match day two at the Kyabaggu stadium on Tuesday.

Kyetume squandered their two goal lead (scored by Baker Buyala and Saaka Sharif) as strikes from Ibrahim “Owen” Kasule and Yasin Mugume ensured a vital home point for the Purple Sharks. All the four goals coming in the first half.

The match saw Wakiso Giants goalkeeper, Samson Kirya make a successful return between the sticks, playing his first competitive game in 932 days after a lengthy injury that kept him on the sidelines.

Kirya parried away Bruhan Matovu’s ball into the path of Baker Buyala who easily tapped in the rebound to put the visitors in the lead in 11th minute at Wakisha.

Sharif Saaka later doubled Kyetume’s lead in a space of four minutes thanks to a well laid cross down the left.

On the half hour mark, Simon Namwanja released new signing Ibrahim Kasule who beat goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa for a breather before Yasin Mugume restored parity with an equalizer off Amos Muwonge assist.

Both Wakiso Giants and Kyetume remain winless having played to stalemates against Police and Kitara on day one. The two will host and visit Vipers SC and Busoga United respectively on Saturday.
