URSB Boss Bemanya to Head African Regional Intellectual Property Organization in Zimbabwe
Uganda’s Registrar General, Mr Bemanya Twebaze, has been elected Director General, African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO).
The election was held in Harare, Zimbabwe after a hard fought campaign against candidates from Zambia and Kenya.
Officials said the election means Bemanya will be moving to Harare, Zimbabwe to head the Continental Body.
The African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) is an inter-governmental organization (IGO) that facilitates cooperation among member states in intellectual property matters, with the objective of pooling financial and human resources, and seeking technological advancement for economic, social, technological, scientific and industrial development.
A Ugandan lawyer and corporate executive, Bemanya currently serves as Uganda’s Registrar General and Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Registration Services Bureau, since March 2012.
