• Vipers SC 3-0 Express
• UPDF FC 0-1 URA
• Tooro United 0-2 KCCA
Vipers Sports Club became the new champions of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League after a 3-0 win of title holders Express on Friday in Kitende.
Yunus Sentamu scored twice and midfielder Bright Anukani completed the rout as the Venoms took their tally to 64 points from 26 games.
With four games to spare, champions-elect Vipers SC are 15 points ahead of title pretenders KCCA who can only manage 62 points if all their remaining four fixtures end in their favor.
Sentamu opened the scoring party at the St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende after 25 minutes from slotting home a defender Hilary Mukundane decent cross from the left.
He doubled the lead nine minutes later, finishing off a headed cross by Mukundane thanks to a Bright Anukani well delivered corner kick.
On the hour mark, Anukani put an icing on the cake from a deflected shot as the Venoms whirled off in wild celebrations. Express had a goal from the sheriff Murushid Jjuuko disallowed for offside.
Express remained 6th on the 16-team log with 42 points.
Now on 5 trophies, Vipers Sports Club becomes the fourth most successful club in the Uganda Premier League history overtaking URA FC that remained on four.
Sports Club Villa has 16, three ahead of Kampala Capital City Authority (13 title) while Express has seven.
In the other games, Sadat Happy Anaku scored twice as KCCA stunned already relegated Tooro United (2-0) at the Buhinga stadium in Fortportal.
At the Bombo military barracks playground, Cromwell Rwothomio lone strike inspired Uganda Revenue Authority (URA FC) to their second successive win on the road edging UPDF 1-0.
League action continues this Saturday with Soltilo Bright Stars hosting Gaddafi at Kavumba while BUL welcomes spirited Onduparaka at the Kyabazinga stadium in Jinja.
