UHURU now challenges RUTO to do the impossible ahead of August polls – Look! Can the DP do this?

Tuesday, February 15, 2022 – President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged politicians, including Deputy President William Ruto, to emulate him and make peace with their political rivals ahead of the August 9 General Elections.

Speaking in State House, Nairobi, Uhuru spoke highly of his handshake with ODM Leader Raila Odinga, noting that politicians should not be too stuck up on their political differences.

“Nimeshindana kisiasa na Raila, lakini choice ni kiongozi. Kama nia yako ni kazi utafanya what is the problem ya kushuka ngazi kidogo na kushika mkono ya yule unapigana naye.”

“Na mliona I didn’t have to, hakuna mtu alinilazimisha lakini niliona nchi ni kubwa kushinda mtu binafsi,” Uhuru said.

This comes after former Devolution CS Charles Keter opened up on the possibility of Uhuru patching up things with Ruto, noting that anything can happen in politics.

The ex-CS noted that there are no permanent enemies or friends and what matters is one’s interests.

“In politics, anything can happen. Never rule out anything. There are no permanent friends or enemies in politics, only interests… Something can happen and all of us would be surprised. Nothing is ever cast in stone in politics,” he said.

Keter said he did not know the reason why Uhuru and DP Ruto’s relationship deteriorated but ruled out the handshake with Raila as the cause.

“When things happen, you try to see what has changed in the environment but I really do not know.

“Neither the President nor the DP has said it is because of the handshake,” he said.
