Uganda Senior Women’s National Football Team (Crested Cranes) will play hosts Morocco, Senegal and Burkina Faso in group A of the 2022 TotalEnergies Africa Women Cup of Nations, (AWCON).
The development was announced from the draws conducted on Friday 29th April in Rabat- Morocco.
The tournament is scheduled for 2nd – 23rd July this year with the last four teams in the competition (semifinalists) reaching the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Uganda will get the campaign underway against Burkina Faso on 3rd July 2022. The Crested Cranes will, two days later, face off with hosts Morocco, before wrapping it up against debutants Senegal on 8th July 2022.
Group B has Cameroon, Zambia, Tunisia and Togo while pool C comprises of Nigeria, South Africa, Burundi and Botswana.
To reach this showpiece, the Crested Cranes ejected Ethiopia during the first qualification round and earned a bye against Kenya who withdrew from the Qualifiers.
