Uganda Cup: Manzoki Double Against Police Takes Vipers to Final

Forward Ceaser Lobi Manzoki scored twice as Vipers Sports Club strolled past blunt Police 2-0 in the first semi-final of the 2020/21 Stanbic Uganda Cup at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru on Tuesday.

Manzoki out-possessed defender Hassan Mahmood and ventured forward before squeezing the ball beyond advancing limping goalkeeper Tom Ikara for the first goal after 20 minutes.

In the 52nd minute, the Congolese forward doubled the lead after collecting a square pass from holding midfielder Bobos Byaruhanga and finished off with a near post strike.

Before conceding twice, goalie Ikara had made two reflex saves thwarting one-on-one threats from Manzoki and Milton Karisa inside the first 15 minutes of play.

Ikara, nevertheless played the whole game limping having collided with Manzoki in a close contest in the 5th minute.

Police captain Tony Mawejje nearly cut on the deficit but his effort was denied by the upright in the 65th minute. Vipers’ second half substitute Dan Sserunkuma also had a shot kiss the crossbar.

The Vemoms now advance to the final scheduled to be played on Sunday, 26th September 2021 at the same venue.

They await the winner in the second semi-final clash between Uganda Premier League and CECAFA Kagame Cup reigning champions Express and BUL FC slated for Thursday..
