• Proline 0-2 BUL FC
BUL FC condemned Proline 2-0 in the first leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarter-final on Friday evening at the MTN Omondi stadium in Lugogo.
Abdulmalik Vitalis Tabu and Joseph Semujju halftime strikes derailed the Cup holders’ hopes from defending the championship while the Jinja based side eased their way to the numerical lead.
In the sixth minute, Vitalis Tabu’s well curled free-kick from the edge of the 18-yard box beat the defensive wall as goalkeeper Magola Shatif arrived late.
With eight minutes left to get business done in the halftime, Joseph Semujju raced onto a brilliantly chipped ball from the midfield and made a slight flick to round advancing custodian Shatif before putting the ball in an empty net.
Deogracious Ojok nearly scored the third but his distant free-kick rattled the upright. Semujju was caught into action before his fierce stunner hit the cross-bar.
The Uganda Premier League side will take a deserving result in the second leg earmarked for Monday 31st May at Bugembe stadium in Jinja. Proline will need a 3-0 win next week to storm the semis.
