Uganda Hippos Head Coach Morley Byekwaso has set a mammoth target of reaching the final the U-20 AFCON Zonal qualification Tournament that starts today on Sunday.
Last week, the Hippos coach traveled with a 20-man squad to Tanzania for the qualifiers scheduled for 22nd November to 6th December 2020.
“My primary target just like any other Ugandan is to see that the team reaches to the final of this tournament,” Byekwaso told FUFA media after the Saturday training session.
He added, “If this is achieved, we shall be rest assured of the ticket to play in the AFCON final tournament in Mauritania.”
Sports Club Villa defender, Gavin Kizito Mugweri will captain the team throughout the qualification campaign.
He previously captained the Uganda Cubs team that featured at the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in 2018 and also the Hippos team that took part in the CECAFA U20 Tournament held in Uganda last year.
Uganda is placed in group B with South Sudan and Burundi while Ethiopia sits in group C with Kenya and Sudan.
Group A has Somalia and Djibouti, and tournament hosts Tanzania.
