Troops rescue 13 hostages in Kaduna, dislodge bandits’ hideout

Troops from Sector 4 Operation Whirl Punch have successfully rescued 13 hostages from a kidnappers’ den in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The rescue operation was prompted by credible human intelligence that bandits were moving kidnapped victims in the area of Chigulu village.

According to Samuel Aruwan, the Overseeing Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State, the troops swiftly mobilized and engaged the bandits in an intense gun battle. The bandits were eventually subdued and fled into the dense forest, abandoning their hostages.

The troops then proceeded to rescue the 13 hostages, comprising six men and seven women, and dislodged the bandits’ camp. In the process, they destroyed various items, including clothing and personal effects, and recovered: Recovered Items: One AK-47 rifle, One locally made rifle, Four AK-47 magazines, 87 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, Five mini solar panels, Five mobile phones and N192,220 in cash

The rescued victims were taken to a military facility for examination and debriefing before being reunited with their families. Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State expressed his gratitude for the successful operation and praised the troops’ swift response, led by Major General Mayirenso Saraso
