Togar Alexander Bealded Writes Open Letter To UL President, Dr. Julius Sarwolo Nelson, Jr.

A Liberian journalists media stakeholder, and consultant, Togar Alexander Bealded has written an open letter to the President of the University of Liberia.

Below is the full text of the letter:

Dr. Julius Sarwolo Nelson, Jr

President

University of Liberia

March 10, 2022

Dear Rev. Dr. Nelson,

I bring you profound greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I read an opinion piece titled ‘The University of Liberia MUST save its reputation and ungown Jefferson T. Koijee – Part I,’ where a purported graduate of the University of Liberia criticized the UL for having amongst this year’s graduates, Jefferson Koijee, the Mayor of the City of Monrovia.

Mr. Martin K. N. Kollie’s deliberate action that Mayor Koijee doesn’t ‘merit or fit to be a graduate least to say come out with Cum Laude,’ has brought the university into public disrepute and has the propensity to ruin your reputation as President of the University in particular. Martin believes that big shots don’t sit in class but come out with flying colors and this should not be the state run university under your watch. This university has graduated scholars and some of the best we have on the continent and one man’s politics should not place the school in the gutters.

Dr. Nelson, I have followed your reputation closely from coming close to being Bishop of the Methodist Church and how you have chosen all your life to contribute to the growth of the church, state and school and I am marveled by your work. Let no one use petit politics to ruin that, so I am publicly calling for a speedy, independent investigation into the matter and holding accountable the perpetrator of this deliberate attempt to ruin the reputation of the University.

Dr. Julius Sarwolo Nelson, Jr

Graduating from the University of Liberia in no way means someone is now beyond reproach even if they were reading PhD as Martin feels, if his actions are deliberate and based on mere politics and falsehood against the state run university then that body should have no alternative but take drastic action (s) that will curtail reoccurrence.

I won’t go on narrating word for word all he has said as I have attached a copy of his opinion to this complaint but will hope the university clears its name on this matter and holds Martin accountable for such outlandish behavior that has brought the university under your watch into public disrepute.

Mr. Jefferson Koijee

Investigating this matter and bringing to an end falsehood as well as taking punitive actions that extend to Martin’s current university will comprehensively bring to end such an attitude.

As a graduate of UMU, if I chose to bring my alma mater into question that has the propensity to ruin its prestige and accolades not backed by hard facts, then it’s not even worth me priding myself as a graduate of the same school in the first place.

Martin has continuously ruined the reputation of UL and its faculty and it seems no one is doing anything about it while he uses the same university degree(s) proudly to read his master’s and other courses abroad.

Will look forward to an independent and in-depth investigation to hold the actor accountable.

Yours Truly,

Togar Alexander Bealded
