Timberwolves surprise with Edwards selection as number 1 college

The Minnesota Timberwolves surprised this Wednesday with the selection of guard Anthony Edwards as number one in the NBA college draw that this year was held virtually for the first time in its history due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Against all odds, Edwards, 19, from the University of Georgia, joins a rebuilding team to team up with point guard D’Angelo Russell.

Edwards, who averaged 19.1 points in his freshman year will be key in the offense of the Timberwolves, who last season struggled to score.

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors, with number two, who were initially interested in getting Edwards, had to change plans and decided on 19-year-old center James Wiseman, who was trained at the University of Memphis.
