BMW SHOWED OFF BOTH THE M2 AND XM AT M FEST

The M2 is the smallest M car in the company’s line-up, and is powered by a tweaked version of the S58 3.0-litre turbopetrol in-line six-cylinder engine from its bigger siblings, the M3 and M4. According to BMW PressClub, the M2 the S58 engine produces 337kW and 550N.m. The M2 has ConnectedDrive features like the rest of the 2 Series range which was launched in South Africa in early 2022.

The XM made its world premiere in concept form at the end of October 2021 at Art Basel’s Miami Beach show, and is the first standalone M vehicle since the M1 44 years ago.

The SUV is fitted with an M HYBRID drive system comprising a V8 petrol engine and a powerful electric motor. The XM’s performance figures are staggering, it boasts a combined 480kW and 800Nm and charges from zero to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds with a top speed of 250km/h. By ticking the M Driver Package option, the top speed increases to 270km/h.
