‘There’s nothing I can do’ – Appollis speaks after failed Chiefs move
Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis has opened up following his unsuccessful transfer to Kaizer Chiefs.
The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from Rise and Shine before the start of the season. Esperance de Tunis from Tunisia and MC Alger from Algeria were some of the teams that were also interesgted in the Bafana Bafana star.
Speaking to iDiski Times, Appollis said he was not bothered by his unsuccessful move to Kaizer Chiefs. He thanked his current team for elevating his football career.
“Yes, because at the end of the day, there’s nothing I can do but stay focused. My job is just to work hard for the club, and if I then get interest, or get an opportunity to represent the country, it’s down to me to do the hard work,” Appollis told iDiski Times.
Appollis remaisn upbeat despite failed move to Kaizer Chiefs
“There’s nothing I can do. And I’m at Polokwane now and I’m happy. No, at Polokwane, it was a very good move. It helped me also going to the PSL. Moving from Pretoria Callies to Polokwane gave me the opportunity to represent the national team because if they didn’t sign me, I might maybe still be at Pretoria Callies,” Appollis added.
“So, Polokwane played a vital role in me going to the national team, and I appreciate what they did. And for this new season, I just want to continue working hard and working hard for the team. And we’ll see where we go from there,” he said.
Appollis might still join Kaizer Chiefs when the transfer window opens again in January. Given his dream to play outside South Africa, the 23-year-old might also close find himself in North Africa or Europe next year.
