SuperSport’s problem with ex-Chiefs player
Former Kaizer Chiefs left-back Sifiso Hlanti arrived at SuperSport United last month, but the three-time champions won’t be offering a deal.
SUPERSPORT UNITED NOT SIGNING HLANTI
According to the club’s CEO Stan Matthews, United have signed too many older players in recent seasons.
“It doesn’t matter to me, that’s our framework, I can’t keep bringing 30-year-old [and above players] into the club, there’s been opportunities to sign Hlanti and Onyango, very good players, very good guys,” Matthews said via iDiski Times.
“Hlanti would add a lot of value for us and experience at left-back, but I can’t bring in another 30-year-olds into my club, I’m bringing in 24-28-year-old players that have big resale value to whoever offers me the best deal and those who can stay with the club if need be and still be in the prime or their career,” Matthews concluded.
NO STELLENBOSCH STAR FOR KAIZER CHIEFS
Betway Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs are not having a good month. The 4-0 loss to Young Africans has been followed by a transfer rejection from Stellenbosch FC.
According to the leading local reporter Lorenz Kohler, the Glamour Boys tabled an offer for Stellies’ 27-year-old left-back Basadien, only for the Winelands club to say no. The report says Kazier Chiefs have been asked to pay a steep fee.
“iDiski Times understands Stellies have issued an exorbitant asking price to be met for the consideration of an immediate sale in the current window,” the report said.
“Basadien, who has been on the fringes of recent Bafana Bafana squad selections, has featured 65 times for the club, scoring once, registering 10 assists in the process,” the report added.
