Stellenbosch signed Butsaka from Cape Town Spurs – Done deal

Stellenbosch signed Chumani Bustaka from Cape Town Spurs after one failed multiplayer bid earlier in the transfer window.

Stellies has officially secured Butsaka from Spurs, confirmed by The South African sources and the club. This transfer promises to significantly enhance Stellenbosch’s midfield options for the upcoming season.

Stellenbosch head coach, Steve Barker, faces a demanding schedule, especially if the team advances to the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup. Chumani Butsaka, known for his versatility, can effectively play both as an attacking midfielder and a holding midfielder. His arrival comes as a strategic move to fill the gap left by Nhlanhla Mgaga, who departed the club at the end of last season.

Butsaka’s previous performance with Cape Town Spurs, where he made 27 league appearances and scored a goal in a 3-1 victory over AmaZulu, underscores his capability and value. Despite speculation linking him to Kaizer Chiefs, Butsaka will continue his career in the Western Cape with Stellenbosch.

Stellenbosch’s need for Butsaka fueled by Adams exit

Stellenbosch’s drive to sign Butsaka fueled by Mamelodi Sundowns continued pursuit of Cape Winelands and Bafana Bafana midfielder Jayden Adams. At just 23, Adams has become a standout player in the league, boasting 122 first-team appearances, seven goals, and nine assists. His notable contributions also include being part of the South Africa squad that finished third at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Sources confirm that Mamelodi Sundowns are making a concerted effort to finalize a deal for Jayden Adams this week. Despite the persistent disagreements over the transfer fee, Sundowns are determined to secure Adams before the transfer window closes. With only four days left in the current window, the pressure is on both teams to reach an agreement. The outcome of these negotiations will hinge on whether Sundowns and Adams can come to a consensus on the financial terms.

Adams has clearly expressed his desire for a new challenge, adding urgency to the negotiations. As the transfer window nears its close, all eyes will be on whether Sundowns and Adams will reach an agreement that satisfies both parties.
