He reported for duty on Saturday morning while drunk and his commander booked him off-duty, disarmed him and sent him home.

Instead of heading home, the member headed to Orlando Stadium in Soweto where Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns were going head to head in an MTN8 semi-final.

The match ended goalless, however, the Constable treated the crowd to a performance of his own. Mathe said the police later learned that he headed to the stadium and gained access to the pitch and bust out a few dance moves.

“The status and dignity of the SAPS badge and uniform must at all times be safeguarded and protected with pride, especially by police officers.

“Therefore, the management of the SAPS views the unbecoming behaviour of the said member in a very serious light,” said the police spokesperson.

Mathe said the police will not hesitate to act against its own members if they are on the wrong side of the law.

In the wake of the incident, the police management launched a departmental investigation into the Constable’s conduct.
