1Magic TV’s telenovela, Lingashoni, which stars actors, Patrick Mofokeng, Liteboho Molise, Thato Molamu, and Thuli Thabethe has been renewed for a second season.

The popular telenovela is produced by Hlomu The Wife, eHostela and Uzalo’s production company, Stained Glass TV.

Patrick Mofokeng joined this telenovela as a poverty-stricken farmworker, Mandla Cele, who returns to his former life of being a successful businessman after a decade of memory loss.

Mandla returns to his old life with his new wife, Seipati, played by former Muvhango actress, Liteboho Molise.

He gets back together with his old wife, Puleng, played by Isibaya actress, Thuli Thabethe, and is now positioned in a polygamous marriage.

His wives and children now live under one roof, don’t get along, and are constantly bickering and competing for his attention.

Puleng is also torn between her husband and her business partner slash boyfriend, Papi (Thato Molamu) who she dated when her husband was declared dead.

Viewers got hooked to the show recently when Puleng accidentally “killed” Seipati and called Papi to assist her to bury her.

Fans of Molise believed her character, Seipati, was exiting the telenovela and were relieved when she woke up from the dead.

M-Net’s director of local entertainment channels, Nomsa Philiso said the story has the hallmarks of a hit telenovela series, with twists and turns that will explore the concept of family and blended family.

Philiso further added: Drama, high stakes, and the dark underworld of crime and suspense will keep viewers engaged with every episode”

“We have observed that our valued 1Magic viewers have become accustomed to juicy storylines and exceptional talent.”

“Therefore, we are excited that these two elements meet political power and crime in what looks set to be a thriller.”

Patrick Mofokeng stated in an interview that he left Scandal! because he realised it was time for a fresh start.

“It’s refreshing, it feels exciting, a new challenge, it’s a new adventure”

“Psychologically, I was ready but emotionally, I wasn’t,” he says of his decision to finally bow out.
