Six Kaizer Chiefs players injured, who’s the latest?

Kaizer Chiefs have issued an injury update and it’s still bad news for a half dozen of their influential stars.

Kaizer Chiefs update the fans on injuries

“Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi will be without six influential players for their upcoming Betway Premiership clash against TS Galaxy on Monday. The injured players include midfielders Edson Castillo, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Gaston Sirino, defenders Dillan Solomons and Bradley Cross, as well as goalkeeper Brandon Petersen.

“The players sustained their injuries in various matches but are expected to return to action soon. Despite these injury setbacks, Amakhosi is focused on preparing for the encounter and is confident in delivering a strong performance.

“Coach Nabi’s charges will seek to bounce back from their disappointing loss to Polokwane City last weekend. TS Galaxy were victorious in their last league match.”

Predicted Chiefs XI vs Galaxy

Bvuma; Blom, Miguel, Dortley, Mashiane; Maart, Mthethwa; Duba, Shabalala, Vilakazi; Chivaviro.

With Reeve Frosler and Dillan Solomons out injured, Nabi will have to stick with Njabulo Blom at right back. We could also see the likes of Gaston Sirino (recently in hot water with the club and now reportedly injured) and Ashley Du Preez come out of the side. Mduduzi Shabalala is one of the shining lights of their campaign so far with three goals and an assist in the league.

Tau launches scathing criticism

Despite head coach Nasreddine Nabi attributing the team’s woes to scoring inefficiencies, former Chiefs and Orlando Pirates star Jimmy Tau sees a much deeper problem. Speaking on SuperSport TV’s ExtraTime, Tau delivered a scathing assessment of Chiefs’ defensive structure and discipline.

“I think it [the problem at Chiefs] is more than scoring, it is defending, it is structure. It’s a discipline,” Tau stated. His critique stems from a glaring defensive lapse that led to Polokwane City’s second goal.
