Police have arrested six suspects and seized over 170 kilograms of marijuana valued at Ksh5.1 million in two separate operations conducted in Merti and Buruburu.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), four suspects were apprehended along the Moyale-Isiolo highway after officers discovered 16.7 kilograms of marijuana concealed within a bus they were traveling in.
The bus, which was en route to Nairobi, is believed to be part of a broader drug trafficking network.
In a separate operation in Buruburu, officers from the Transnational Organized Crimes Unit intercepted a Toyota Probox carrying 155 kilograms of marijuana.
The two suspects, Samson Zimbwakale, 27, and Phesto Sigungu, 46, abandoned the vehicle during a high-speed chase from Ngong and fled to Athi River.
They were later apprehended them at Cedar Court Apartments and are currently detained at Muthaiga Police Station.
The seized drugs have been processed and secured, with the suspects expected to face charges of possession and trafficking of narcotics.
