Should Amazulu sign wantaway Orlando Pirates midfielder

2 min read

Njabulo Manqana believes his former club Amazulu should sign Orlando Pirates outcast Nkanyiso Zungu.

Manqana opined that Zungu would make the perfect replacement for Kaizer Chiefs-bound Siyethemba Sithebe.

Zungu is a former Amazulu youth player, leaving the club in 2018 to join Stellenbosch FC where he impressed Orlando Pirates scouts.

Could Zungu solve a midfield problem for Amazulu?

During his time at Orlando Pirates, Zungu hasn’t settled and has found opportunities hard to come by in Soweto.

Manqana feels that he would fit right in at Amazulu and is a tailor-made replacement for Sithebe.

Pirates are understood to be keen to offload Zungu.

“They must push for Nkanyiso Zungu, he is a perfect replacement for Sithebe, he knows the culture of the club and he is not used at Orlando Pirates, bring him back,” Manqana told the Soccer Laduma.

The former player believes Amazulu should do more to keep hold of homegrown talents like Zungu.

“I think AmaZulu should look at their development, there’s so much talent in KZN, they must trust their own and we’ve had challenges where players are not trusted enough here, get rejected and end up burying them in Gauteng,” he added.

“They must change on how to manage the talent because KZN has so much gifted young boys, we need KZN teams not only AmaZulu to change their mindsets and start respecting their own by giving them whatever they deserve including financial security.

“They should push for Nkanyiso Zungu as Siyethemba Sithebe’s replacement and hopefully they will try to keep him beyond this season.”

Amazulu have made it clear that they want to reinforce their squad ahead of the second half of the season.

Usuthu face the prospect of a maiden Caf Champions League group stage campaign in the coming months and feel that their squad is not built for the rigours of continental football.
