Seven Kaizer Chiefs stars who could follow Mathoho out the door at Naturena
Kaizer Chiefs will need to sell before they can buy, and that could lead to some pretty unpopular decisions. Erick Mathoho has officially departed Naturena, and a host of names could soon follow.

ICYMI: Chiefs should pursue this wildly talented playmaker
The Kaizer Chiefs rebuild continues
You don’t get much more high-profile than club legend and current skipper Itumeleng Khune. Chiefs need to make a decision on the 35-year-old, because he’s no longer the number 1 ‘keeper and a footballer of his stature is unlikely to accept a second-fiddle role. Can he perhaps stay on in a non-playing capacity instead?
There’s no doubting his status within Naturena, a true one-club man. Known for his legendarily accurate distribution, this man’s skills will be difficult to replace. It does seem as though the board are aggressively pursuing targets in that department, with Melusi Buthelezi and Salim Magoola linked.

Bimenyimana and Billiat on the way out?
It’s a shame that Khama Billiat hasn’t been able to replicate his scintillating Sundowns form in a Chiefs jersey, and his latest injury sums up his Amakhosi career rather well. He was on the mend, only to be rocked by a setback that surely puts paid to any chances of him earning a contract extension. Chiefs are also pursuing strikjer targets in the shape of Fiston Mayele and Ranga Chivaviro, which is bad news for Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana.
Over and above them, it’s also widely expected that Phatutshedzo Nange, Cole Alexander and Lehlogonolo Matlou will seek new pastures and that means midfield reinforcements will be needed. It’s also likely Chiefs will listen to offers for Kgaogelo Sekgota.
