SAPS bust illegal immigrant wanted for murder – after he stopped off for a beer
A man who came out of hiding to grab himself a beer has been captured by SAPS officials, after the police received a tip-off about his appearance at a tavern in Mpumalanga. The suspect, 27, is accused of murdering his girlfriend in 2019 and then raping her young daughter. He has also been identified as an illegal immigrant.
Mpumalanga cops receive tavern tip-off
It’s understood that, just a little over 12 months ago, the long-sought-after suspect killed his partner and burnt her house down. The rape of her daughter was so severe, she was left struggling to walk. This week, the alleged murderer was spotted drinking in a local hot-spot – prompting the police to nab their man within minutes of learning his whereabouts.
SAPS issued a sweeping statement on Wednesday, confirming that the illegal immigrant will now face several charges in court. The Mpumalanga resident remains behind bars and is likely to be slapped with a hefty prison sentence.
SAPS statement on ‘illegal immigrant murderer’
“The man’s scheduled court appearance comes after his arrest on 7 December 2020, in White River. The suspect allegedly killed his girlfriend, raped her daughter, and burnt the house where his girlfriend was staying with her daughter. The tragic incident occurred at Msholozi near White River and the suspect, after committing this heinous act, went into hiding.”
“Reports indicate that the neighbours were awakened by the girl who could barely walk who alleged that she was raped by her mom’s boyfriend. The neighbours also noticed that the house where the girl was residing with her mom was on fire. The severely burnt body of the girl’s mother was later discovered in the burnt house.”
“Police members made a breakthrough when they received information that the man they were looking for, has been seen at a tavern. SAPS also established that the man is in the country as an illegal immigrant – hence an additional charge of contravention of the Immigration Act has been added. The suspect is set to appear before the White River Magistrate’s Court today.”
