Sannie Daara urges Black Stars to expand player selection to boost competition
Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie Daara has called for a broader player selection pool to reduce complacency and increase competition within the Black Stars.Ghana’s struggles in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers, with poor performances threatening their chances of qualification, have sparked concerns.Daara attributes this to some players feeling too comfortable in their positions.”A lot of players feel too comfortable, and it affects performances,” Daara told GHOne TV. “Young players haven’t struggled to get in, making them complacent.”To address this, Daara recommends expanding the selection scope beyond top leagues to include players on the periphery.”Widen the scope to include players like Bernard Terkpetey,” he suggested. “Changing the strategy will bring healthy competition and improve results.”Ghana faces Angola on November 15 and Niger on November 18, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
