Ruto congratulates UDA 2022 election winners

Deputy President William Ruto has congratulated all the aspirants who emerged victorious in the just concluded 2022 General Elections.

In his congratulatory message through his Twitter handle Saturday, the United Democratic Alliance presidential flagbearer singled out women aspirants who managed to emerge winners in the various political seats.

“Congratulations to all the aspirants who’ve emerged winners in the just concluded election,” said DP Ruto.

“In particular, we celebrate because more women have broken barriers and ceilings to climb the political ladder. Best wishes as you embark on your new responsibilities,” he added.

This comes after outgoing Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika  handed a resounding defeat to Governor Lee Kinyanjui after garnering 440,707 votes against the latter’s 225,623 in what political pundits had touted would be a tightly contested gubernatorial race.

Kihika’s victory completes the top three tier women county leadership after Women Representative Lizza Chelule successfully defended her seat, while industrialist Tabitha Karanja was elected Senator.

All the three victors contested for their respective positions on a United Democratic Alliance Party’s ticket.

Kihika managed to unseat Kinyanjui, who was defending his seat on Jubilee Party ticket on the strength of landmark activities he oversaw including granting of a city charter to Nakuru last year.
