Rukungiri: Missing Businessman Found Dead

The 57-year-old man businessman in Rukungiri who had gone missing for 9 days following a misunderstanding with a witch doctor, has been found dead.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police spokesman says the body of Suleiman Mutabazi was recovered on Thursday from Rweshama swamp by police.

The Police search party was led to the scene led by Mugisha Suleiman the main suspect.

Maate says that deceased (Mutabazi), a businessman from Bwambara Sub county had been visiting Mugisha’s shrine for a long time, and that the two were often seen by locals smoking pipe together along the road.

He says that on the April 19th 2022 at around 8.30PM, the victim was seen entering the shrine with his motorcycle and later was heard quarreling with Mugisha about money.

“At around 2am   on April 20th 2022, two motor cycles were heard leaving that home and since then, the victim disappeared,” Maate said.

On April 24th 2022, one Kakuru Buseni reported the disappearance of his father at Rwenshama Police station and CPS Rukungiri was accordingly notified. A team headed by the OC Station one IP Muhairwe Elias moved on ground and Mugisha Sulaiman the main suspect plus his other family members were arrested as they tried to flee the village.

“On interrogation, the actual whereabouts of the victim was revealed, the scene was visited, and the body retrieved and taken to Rwakabengo health centre III  for postmortem.”
