Steenie Njoroge: #RIP | Wanja Thuku
Sad to announce the passing on of a prolific script writer /journalist and wife to the late Zeke Waweru (UON). Her body is at Umash funeral home. Burial arrangements to be announced later.

Rahab Wangui: Oh Wanja. This seems like a bad joke. I still can’t believe that you are no more.
As a young journalist at The People newspaper straight from college, I was put under your wings. You were then The Features Editor..I’d send you my stories that I thought were perfectly written and You’d call me and have me sit next to you as you edited my stories..and man, did I learn, you were such a writer! Such a big sister to me when I was trying to make it as a young Jorno, I am glad that I shared these sentiments with you when you were alive. Go well Wanja. I celebrate you Good lady.

Peter Kiragu: Wanja Thuku this was our last interaction online on Nov 10, I laughed at your post. Today, I learn you have left us. Indeed nobody knows the minute or the hour but your owner. Rest well media guru.

Nick Itaga Riene: Such gifted hands, gifted brains and great personality. One of the greatest writers I’ve come across and worked with. Your work on Ithaga Riene is out of this world. Your legacy will live on. I am truly lost for words. May you RIP Wanja Thuku. 🙁
#ithagariene.

Jackline Njoki: Wanja Thuku our best cousin. I feel sad for leaving us but because i am sure of where you have gone, i will utter words of thanksgiving to God… Wanja Thuku, you are in safe hands rest in peace.

Tom Osanjo: But Wanja Thuku loves bowing out. After an illustrious career in the Kenya Army she bowed out as a lieutenant. Joined Grand Regency Hotel as the Deputy Head of Security and before the German, Italian, French, American and an assorted battalion of local tourists could get used to her she bolted out. Again. Went to being a journalist. I meet Wanja at Kenya Times. Always typing fast and furious before bolting out for a meeting. Here and there. Comes back late. We finish our stories and we take the paper to bed. Then I bolt out to join the People Newspaper where the late Sir George Mbuguss reigns supreme. Wanja later joins the same paper. Meanwhile she has branched out to be an author. A great story teller. Trains countless of young scribes how to write a story and edit it. Then walks away quietly. Yesterday I go to our WhatsApp page and I learn that Wanja has bowed out. Again. This time for good. You will be missed dear girl. But as they say, old soldiers never die. They only fade away.
