RIP: Former Orlando Pirates striker Justin Shonga dies aged 27

Former Orlando Pirates striker Justin Shonga has tragically died, the Zambian Football Association confirmed on Sunday.

He was 27.

Shonga most recently played for Najran in the Saudi Second Division.

Justin Shonga well known in South Africa

He is well-known in South Africa having represented Orlando Pirates, TTM, Cape Town City and Sekhukhune United.

Shonga signed with the Buccaneers in late 2017 from Nkwazi FC in his native Zambia.

He made 84 appearances in the DStv Premiership, scoring 13 goals in total.

He also played 15 matches for Zambia, scoring seven goals.

His death was announced on Sunday.

“Former Chipolopolo forward Justin Shonga has died. Zambia Police Deputy Spokesperson Dan Mwale has confirmed in an interview with the FAZ Media Team.

“Mwale said Shonga died at Sikanze Police Hospital after a short illness. More details will be availed in due course.”

The South African website extends its condolences to the family and friends on Justin Shonga.
