It was revealed about three months ago that Kaizer Chiefs have notched up an agreement to sign Cape Town City midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane.
Mdantsane is a player who has been hugely admired at Chiefs, a revelation that has hardly been a secret.
It is now no longer a secret that Chiefs approached City in January, in the hopes of prizing away the services of Mdantsane. It is said that the initial approach was for a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season. The move was reportedly so close that even Citizens coach Eric Tinkler came out to the media saying he had already admitted defeat.
Having been already resigned to losing one of his key players, Tinkler was then met with a pleasant surprise the move taking Mdantsane to Chiefs fell through for an unknown reason on January transfer deadline day. Whatever, happened between the two clubs may yet remain a mystery for a quite a long time to come, but what won’t is the fact that both City and Amakhosi seem to have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player at the end of the season.
There has since been a further update on the impending transfer, with iDiski Times now reporting that Chiefs have parted ways with a few million to sign the player from CIty.
Chiefs pay R3.5 million for Mdantsane!
“Kaizer Chiefs have signed Cape Town City midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane in a deal worth around R3.5 million. The 28-year-old returns to the club he once represented during his development days and pens a three-year contract after emerging into one of the leading performers in the league.
His contract was due to expire at the end of this month but City activated a one-year option before Chiefs came knocking and the two clubs agreed on a fee.” Wrote the publication.
City could be the happiest of the two sides as they were able to get a very good fee for a player who came on a free, while his parting shot was a goal for them against Chiefs on the last day of the previous season.
