‘Reality inspires fiction’: Tshedza Pictures’ ‘The Republic’ will return in 2022

Mzansi Magic viewers are super-delighted that their favourite political series, The Republic, which stars veteran actress, Florence Masebe is renewed for another season.   

Entertainment commentator, Phil Mphil, just (25 November) announced on his Twitter account that the series will return in 2022.

Season 2 will have President Mulaudzi won a second term and a ‘Bonnie & Clyde’ esque couple enters the show to wreak havoc.

THE REPUBLIC’ DEPICTS REALITY’  

The reality-inspired fiction starred some of Mzansi’s most-talented actors such as SAFTA winners, Warren Masemola, Masasa Mbongeni, Seputla Sebogodi, and Siyabonga Thwala.

The show also starred The River actor, Hlomla Dandala, as well as, actress and DJ, Thuli Phongolo, and many more.   

Fans got hooked to the Sunday night drama in 2019 just after the first episode and are now looking forward to more action in 2022.   

The show follows South Africa’s first female president, President Lufuno Zandile Mulaudzi played by the talented, Florence Masebe.   

Lufuno is determined to end corruption, turn the country around come hell or high water.  

Actor, Warren Masemola played the role of Bridget Manaka’s (Masasa Mbongeni) husband, Thabang Manaka on the show.  

Viewers saw Thabang, a fallen hero, sacrificing his life for the people towards the end of the season to make amends for his past mistakes.  

Great stuff to look forward to in the new year. Just hope the whole season is not based on a “day’s event” last the first one

The drama series is written and produced by the multi-award-winning duo, Phathutshedzo Makwarela, and Gwydion Beynon, from Tshedza Pictures.

Tshedza Pictures have produced hit shows such as, The River, Gomora, Legacy, Giyani: Land of Blood, and many more.  

Co-producer and writer, Phuthu Makwarela, took to Twitter in 2019 to thank viewers and the cast for their support.
