‘Real recognise real’: India Arie praises Lloyiso’s ‘striking’ voice [watch]

Singer-songwriter Lloyiso Gijana has blown social media users away over the years with his stunning covers and heartfelt original songs. The Republic Records signee recently caught the attention of Grammy award-winning singer India Arie who praised him for his “striking” voice. Arie was so impressed by his vocal abilities, that she sent him a direct message (DM).

INDIA ARIE’S IMPACT IN MUSIC 

India Arie is one of the most respected R&B artists in the world. Her debut album Acoustic Soul, released in 2001 was certified Gold in South Africa and two times platinum in the United States. The album features gems like Video, Ready for Love and Brown Skin

Since then, India Arie has released six studio albums and secured over 23 Grammy nominations walking away with four awards. 

The 46-year-old musician has collaborated with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Akon, Musiq Soulchild and American guitarist Carlos Santana.

INDIA ARIE PRAISES LLOYISO’S VOICE 

A clip of the Grammy award-winning artist praising Lloyiso’s exceptional vocal skills hit Twitter on Thursday 6 January. Arie praised Lloyiso for singing with “so much heart and depth”. 

“He is striking. A lot of people can sing notes, but it’s a more rare thing to see people go to this place where they can sing. He goes to this place.” 

“I just watched a bunch of his videos one night and I sent him a DM and he didn’t answer back yet.” 

“Lloyiso if you see this message… reach out.” 

Lloyiso responded to the video confirming that he responded to India Arie’s message.

‘REAL RECOGNISE REAL’

Reacting to India Arie’s video, tweeps were in awe of her sincere words. One tweep wrote: “It’s definitely your time. To more wins.”
