Raphael Tuju resigns as Jubilee Party Secretary General

Raphael Tuju has resigned as Jubilee Party Secretary General.

Speaking at the party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC) at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi Saturday, Tuju said he is considering other political engagements.

Tuju said he had formally notified the Head-of-State about his intention to exit his ministerial position in January.

“In January, I went to President Uhuru Kenyatta to ask for permission if I could exit his Cabinet because of my other ambitions. We didn’t make the announcement then but I stopped being a member of his Cabinet so as to comply with other regulations,” Tuju said.

He was replaced by Ndaragwa Member of Parliament Jeremiah Kioni who will be deputised by cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny.

Meanwhile, President Uhuru Kenyatta will remain as Jubilee Party leader as Jimmy Angwenyi replaces Deputy President William Ruto as Deputy Party leader.

Kanini Kega also takes over the new mandate of being Director of Elections while Nelson Dzuya was retained as the party’s chair with David Murathe as the deputy vice-chairman.

Kitutu chache North MP Jimmy Angwenyi is one of the four Jubilee deputy party leaders. Others are Katobu Ngatobu, Naomi Shaban and Peter Mositet.
