PSL News: Feisal Salum, Oswin Appollis, Mayo, Matuludi, Olunga
The PSL January transfer window ignites soon.
While clubs aren’t allowed to do business before January 1, it isn’t illegal to negotiate before – Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have sparked several inquiries.
Transfer gossip
- Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly willing to offer Tanzanian international Feisal Salum a R216 000-per-week contract, increasing their chances of signing the maestro midfielder in January.
- The Chiefs and Pirates have approached Polokwane pair Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi and are likely to make their decisions this summer.
- Former PSL goal-getter Khanyisa Mayo publicly stated his aspiration to become a Kaizer Chiefs player, following in the footsteps of his father, Patrick. However, having just joined North African giants CR Belouizdad, a deal isn’t likely to materialize anytime soon.
- Striker Michael Olunga is another AmaKhosi top target but could be deterred by the Kenyan’s R171 million price tag.
Mayo to Chiefs?
Mayo, who bagged over twenty goals in his last two PSL seasons, was asked whether he sees himself returning to South Africa.
“I see myself representing one of the top teams in the country,” he said.
“If I ever think about coming back home, they [Kaizer Chiefs] will be my first preference. It’s the biggest team in South Africa, and my dad played there.”
