Kenyan rapper Jackson Ngechu Makini, popularly known as Prezzo, has ditched the Wiper party.
The singer did not, however, explain why he was quitting the political outfit that is associated with veteran politician Kalonzo Musyoka.
“I write to inform you of my decision to resign from the Wiper party of Kenya under section 14 (1)(a) of the political parties act as read with article with article 38 of the constitution effective today,” said a letter penned by prezzo.
The musician is said to be eyeing a parliamentary seat in Nairobi with reports suggest he could be joining Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
“I wish the party and its leadership and its members all the best in their future endeavors,” he said in the letter.
Prezzo’s departure from Wiper represents a double blow for Musyoka who is gunning to replace President Uhuru Kenyatta, having also lost out on another political ally namely Musalia Mudavadi at the weekend.
