By Kingsley Omonobi

The Nigeria Police Force has shed more light on the benefits of the Electronic Central Motor Registry (E-CMR), an innovation designed to transform vehicle information verification and management on the roads.

The E-CMR serves as a critical security measure to combat car theft nationwide.

According to Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the E-CMR is part of the “e-policing” initiative aimed at enhancing road safety and policing efficiency under Inspector-General Olukayode Egbetokun’s leadership. Adejobi highlighted the system’s digital registration feature, enabling vehicle owners to register online and facilitating swift emergency responses.

Following the E-CMR’s launch in June, IGP Egbetokun ordered the enforcement of the digitalized Central Motor Registry to modernize and digitize motor vehicle registration ¹ ² ³. This move aims to improve the nation’s safety and security framework.

E-CMR Advantages
