Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have just been given advice on how to win the CAF Champions League by the legendary Pitso Mosimane.
Mosimane spoke about his views on the PSL as well as what SA’s side’s need to do to win the CAF Champions League.
Nudge, nudge, wink wink to Chiefs and Pirates! The Soweto giants have struggled for any silverware for several seasons now and the one trophy their fans want most – the CAFCL – still eludes these sides.
The best place to seek advice is from somebody who has achieved and done exactly what you want to achieve and do.
Mosimane won the CAFCL with Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns. Now, he is spreading his wisdom through his wise words to all aspiring SA teams – including Chiefs, Pirates, and Cape Town City.
It’s reported that current CAF Champions League holders, Wydad Casablanca, could show interest in securing the services of Mosimane. Image: Twitter/Pitsomosimane
MOSIMANE GIVES CHIEFS, PIRATES AND SA SIDES ADVICE
“Few tactical adjustments to be improved though if we want to win Caf Inter club trophies,” Mosimane stated on Goal.
He believes that the quality of football in the DStv Premiership has improved. However, their needs to be technical adjustments made if our SA teams are to taste silverware in CAF.
We have seen it all before – Sundowns go in as favourites, beat Al Ahly (twice) yet still fall short in the quarterfinals. Chiefs made it into the final only to be humbled 3-0 by Al Ahly and Pirates reached the final back in 2013 only to fall short at the final hurdle.
We have the talent but are missing something – technical changes are needed. I agree with Mosimane, if we can join our raw talent with a professional structure then our sides will be far more competitive on a continental scale.
Look at Al Ahly under Mosimane, they conquered Africa time and time again and there aren’t many excellent players. However, they were the most organised and structured side in Africa under Jingles.
Both Chiefs and Pirates have made wholesale changes to their technical staff with changes currently underway at the Soweto Giants,
Do you think the Soweto giants will take Mosimane’s advice? What technical changes would you make if you coached Amakhosi or the Bucs?
