The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Katsina State chapter, on Wednesday cried out over rising cases of banditry, particularly in Sabwa, Faskari and Dan Dume local governments.

It said the victims cut across party divide.

PDP state Chairman Alhaji Salisu Yusuf Majigiri told The Nation that the constant harassment and loss of lives “is a worrisome development, which calls for actions by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administrations at the state and federal levels.”

Majigiri, reacting to the recent killing of their party Chairman in Sabwa Local Government, Alhaji Lawal Dako, said both governments should desist from offering excuses for their shortcomings and tackle insecurity in the state.

He criticised the performance of the police command, saying its performance leaves much to be desired.

Investigation by The Nation showed that Dako, 63, was shot alongside his granddaughter at Ladi village, Sabwa, on November 3, by bandits.

The granddaughter died on the spot, while he was taken to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria where he later died on November 20.
